Besides this fact, Dominique Aegerter comes to what is probably the hottest race weekend of the season backe by a special practice session.

Last weekend at the Italian Superbike Championship in Misano, 33-year-old Dominique Aegerter experienced first-hand what it means to race motorcycles in the midsummer heat. Very similar conditions can be expected this weekend at the World Championship’s visit to the Portimao Rollercoaster.

Round seven of the 2024 FIM Superbike World Championship also marks the start of the second half of the season. The weekend's program deviates significantly from the normal schedule, as almost all on-track action will take place in the afternoon and into the early evening on all days. This is to avoid the midsummer heat of southern Europe, at least at the time of the races.

«After our last race in Most, the championship had a three-week break, which I shortened with my guest appearance in Italian SBK championship in Misano. That was a good training, and I feel fit and ready for Portimao. Portimao is a very special track, not easy for me. When I look back at Most, we had a difficult weekend. Donington the week before was a bit better. Our focus is therefore on making a good start on Friday in order to find a proper basic set-up as quickly as possible. During the first two free practice sessions, we must not leave a minute unused to prepare for the important sessions of the weekend, because the track, with its rollercoaster character and the associated elevation changes, demands a lot from us. What's more, the schedule is very different with the main races early on Saturday and Sunday evening. So be careful not to miss anything!»
