2024/09/20 - FIM Superbike World Championship 2024: Dominique Aegerter working on comeback

Dominique Aegerter working on comeback

The 33-year-old Swiss rider sorely misses the FIM Superbike World Championship race weekend at the Cremona Circuit, which would have had the status of a home race due to its proximity to his home in the canton of Bern.

Dominique Aegerter has to be patient after his training accident with a mountain bike, as his shoulder and rib injuries do not permit an early comeback. The Yamaha rider has long since started therapy, but still has to follow the doctors' advice. An examination at the beginning of next week should clarify whether a comeback for round ten of the season in a week's time at the Spanish track MotorLand Aragón makes sense.

«I am on the road to recovery. But Cremona was too early for a comeback. I am very sorry for my team and all my fans who are going to Italy this weekend, and also for my sponsors, because I would have loved to race in Cremona, which would have been another home race because of its proximity to Switzerland. I do physiotherapy every day with as much movement as possible and as much as the pain allows. But the doctors have the last word on how far I can go with my exercises. I will do everything I can to get back on my Yamaha Superbike as soon as possible, but of course only when I am 100 percent fit.  I will see in the next few days if it is enough for next week in Aragón. I really hope so, but as I said, I have to feel fit enough. Thanks to everyone who is keeping their fingers crossed for me and for all the good wishes.»
