For Dominique Aegerter, the race weekend at the Cremona Circuit, located just a stone's throw from the border crossing into Italy, got off to a very positive start with a 12th-place grid position for Saturday's Race 1.
 
Cremona, located in Italy‘s Lombardy region, hosts round 10 of this year’s Superbike World Championship this weekend, along with its supporting classes in Supersport and Sportbike categories. The event got off to a good start for riders and teams, with plenty of sunshine and nearly summer-like temperatures.

For Dominique Aegerter and his Kawasaki WorldSSP Team, which is based nearby to the circuit, the team’s private test sessions completed over the summer at the Cremona Circuit have paid off. After Friday morning’s free practice, the 35-year-old Swiss rider ended up in P21, but in the afternoon he stepped it up a notch in Superpole session.

Aegerter finished the 40 minutes long time attack in 12th place, which means he will start the weekend’s first race from the fourth row. This gives the ambitious racer plenty of motivation to thrill the numerous sponsors, guests, and fans in attendance with strong performances as the weekend progresses.

The season's Race No. 18 will go underway on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. CEST.

«We got off to a pretty good start this weekend. The tests we’ve done here over the past few months were a big help, since we were able to collect a lot of data. I’m satisfied with our performance in Superpole, and I’d also like to congratulate Jeremy on taking pole position today. He did a great job. I’m happy for him and for the entire team, because it’s something special to race at this level at the team’s true home race in front of all our sponsors and guests and to be able to show that our package with the Kawasaki Ninja works well. In Superpole, I finished in twelfth place, just 0.5 seconds behind Jeremy’s pole time. Of course, I’d like to start further up the grid, but this small gap gives me hope for further progress. Today I felt much more comfortable with the bike, even if that isn’t really reflected in our positions. But I think we’re well prepared to have a good race tomorrow, because I feel very comfortable with my bike and the track. In any case, it’s great to be racing here in Cremona, with the support of the entire team, as well as our guests and all the fans. So: keep going full gasss!»
