However, after his strong performance on Saturday, Dominique Aegerter had hoped for a better result than 12th place in the second race at the Cremona Circuit in northern Italy.

The 35-year-old Swiss professional motorcycle racer Dominique Aegerter looks back positively on round ten of the season. Aegerter, who finished in the top ten on Saturday for the first time in a long while, was determined to repeat that performance in Sunday’s Race 2, and, if possible, even surpass it.

On Sunday, in glorious weather, Aegerter started from the fifth row but was overtaken by several rivals on the opening lap. Despite his best efforts, it took a while for the Kawasaki rider to make up ground. Throughout the 20-lap race, he was involved in fierce battles for positions and ultimately finished in 12th place. 

In two weeks, the championship will enter its home straight with its annual stop at the Circuito de Estoril, not far from Lisbon, Portugal.

«Of course, I wanted to do better than just finishing in 12th place today. Since I left the line from P15 on the grid, I had some very tough battles right from the start. My start was good, but in the first few laps I lacked power to attack and pass other riders. Things improved in the middle of the race, and during those stages I was really competitive. That allowed me to pass other riders and fight my way up the field. But in the final stages, we struggled a bit because I was pushing as hard as I could on every lap. Overall, I think it was a positive weekend here in Cremona, as we’ve taken a step forward. We’re certainly not where we want to be yet. We have two more race weekends ahead of us next month at Estoril and Jerez, where we’ll once again give it our all, and hopefully we can build on this progress there. Congratulations again to Jeremy, who also won today’s race. It’s great to see that our Kawasaki bike is competitive, and when everything comes together, we can be fast with our package.
